Monoprice 9927 equipped with various ear sleeves:
Silicone sleeves
Foam sleeves
MEElec large triflanges turn out to be the answer, and any remaining harshness shall be damped with additional acoustic impedance, as suggested previously. An article on the internal modification of 9927 will be presented separately.
Very cool post, thank you. But what do you suggest for people with smaller ear canals that can't fit the large tips?
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome. Well if that's the case, then the internal modification is the only option for them it seems.
DeleteHi udauda! I use this earphone with Monster Supertips Foam inner tube + normal silicone combo. I'm interested in your opinion about them.
ReplyDeleteI think the sound should be close to that of UE biflanges..?
DeleteI don't have any bi-flanges, so I can't answer you. I tried also many tips: Monster gels, silicone tip filled with Shure foam, Shure foam on Comply tube, but the best sound was with the above mentioned combination. No harshness and great bass quality wise. You does not want to sacrifice a Monster foam? :-)
DeleteI also made a video, about these tips: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qro4ntN5zS0
you're very enthusiastic! I will indeed measure that configuration for you in a day or two. :)
DeleteOh, that would be great.
DeleteSorry for taking so long, had some things to do. Here you go: http://i.imgur.com/Em3G5rz.png
DeleteAs the core element is same as the Monster, the sound should be more or less the same. However, you might be able to obtain a better fit!
Thanks for trying this. I think you used the biggest sizes core. I use the one of the smallest, but no problem.
DeleteHello, above you mentioned internal modifications. I was under the impression you were making a post about how to do them. Are you still planning on making such a post?
